We are seeking an Associate Director or Technical Director in Environmental Permitting (waste and installations) to join our Waste and Resource Management (WRM) team. In this senior position, you will oversee environmental permit applications, provide technical advice, and ensure exemplar project management across a wide variety of client projects. You will also play a key role in developing people, strengthening existing client relationships, and building new partnerships to raise Tetra Tech’s profile.
Your Impact in this Position:
- You will contribute directly to the WRM 3 Horizon Plan, shaping the strategic direction of the team while working with high-performing colleagues on challenging projects across the UK.
- Your expertise will support both public and private sector clients, helping them navigate complex environmental and waste management challenges while fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the team.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide authoritative advice on environmental permitting, waste treatment, and facility development.
Project Management:
- Lead multi-disciplinary projects with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
Client Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships, supporting business development and raising Tetra Tech’s profile.
Leadership & Mentoring:
- Guide and inspire junior colleagues, promoting learning and professional growth.
Communication & Collaboration:

Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in a relevant field and Chartered status (CIWM).
- Extensive experience in environmental permitting and multi-disciplinary project management.
- Proven track record in business development and client management.
Working Environment:
Based in Birmingham, Cardiff, or Southampton (flexible locations considered), with hybrid working between office and home. Projects are UK-wide, with occasional travel expected.
