Launch your career in wastewater modelling and engineering with Tetra Tech
Purpose and scope of the role: Join Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy team in London, based at our Farrington Street office, and support a wide range of wastewater modelling, data analysis and engineering projects, from local investigations to multi-million‑pound infrastructure schemes. You will handle and interpret large datasets, develop and maintain hydraulic and statistical models, produce factual and interpretative reports, and contribute to client and stakeholder engagement. Working as part of multidisciplinary project teams, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and modellers, with opportunities for site surveys and field data collection.
Your impact in this position: In the short term, you will help deliver live projects by producing high‑quality data outputs and model results. Over time, you will take on greater responsibility for smaller project tasks, model development and client communication, while building your professional skills through relevant training. Longer term, this role offers clear pathways to chartership and senior technical positions, with exposure to significant regional and national programmes that will support your growth.
- Data analysis – Ability to handle, clean and interpret large datasets accurately, including statistical treatment, quality assurance and clear presentation of findings.
- Modelling and hydraulics – Understanding of hydraulic and wastewater modelling, with the capability to build, test, document and maintain models effectively.
- Reporting and communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare concise technical reports and explain findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Software and GIS – Confident use of Excel and familiarity with GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS; experience with modelling tools or scripting would be advantageous.
- Teamwork and development – A collaborative, adaptable approach with a willingness to learn and develop professionally, including progress towards training and chartership.
Skills, qualifications and experience: Expected: A degree in Civil Engineering, Geography or a closely related discipline, alongside good communication and basic computing skills. Desirable: Experience or modules in wastewater, hydraulics, hydrology, GIS, statistical modelling or programming, plus any site work or internship experience.
Work patterns and locations: Based in our London Farrington Street office with hybrid working. You can expect to be in the office around two to three days per week, with occasional site visits and in-person team activities.
