We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Planner to join our vibrant and dedicated planning team, with the opportunity to work flexibly with our agile working approach. We would like to hear from anybody who is passionate about being a planner and who would relish being able to develop their own client base and work on projects across a range of sectors from retail and residential to education and energy.

You will be joining a market-leading, multi-national company at a hugely exciting time following our recent rebrand as part of the Tetra Tech Planning family. You will have opportunities to work across our multidisciplinary teams and gain invaluable experience with active mentoring and support to further your career.

Your Role

We work on behalf of both public and private sector clients, and we are proud of our diverse range of projects providing you with fantastic opportunities to broaden your horizons and develop your skillset across planning. We provide advice across the entire spectrum of development schemes, from initial feasibility studies, site visits, through to the submission of large-scale planning applications and appeals. We have strong local and national networks and a collaborative team culture. This will see you working closely with colleagues across our northern team, with opportunities to work with any office across the country. This, combined with the quality of service we provide to our clients, is what makes us consistently one of the top planning consultancies in the UK.

Working across the team’s diverse project base, you will be responsible for preparing site appraisals, development plan representations, submitting planning (and other) applications and appeals and advising clients generally. As a commercially minded individual you will be supported in developing your own client base and taking the lead on projects with budgetary accountability. Tetra Tech is a multidisciplinary organisation, and you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with multi-skilled teams on larger proposals. With a growing pipeline of work and the strong backing of our parent company to grow, there could not be a more exciting time to join us.

Requirements:

We are looking for a RTPI accredited Town Planner with proven experience in a similar role or looking to step up. You may be presently working in a local authority, consultancy or for a developer or housebuilder. You will be capable of managing a varied workload and be confident taking on the responsibility for the day-to-day management of concurrently running projects.

To be successful in the role you will have the following key skills and experience:

  • ability to deliver reliable technical input in a timely and efficient way;
  • a team player with good people skills, who will thrive dealing directly with our clients;
  • be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work under your own initiative to meet our client’s expectations and help expand our business;
  • have excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with multi-skilled teams internally and externally;
  • above all, you will have a "can-do" and positive approach to your career.

In return we offer a competitive salary, contributory pension, car allowance, health cover and a range of flexible benefits including discounted childcare and retail vouchers, travel insurance and variable holiday (renewable annually). We have adopted a more agile way of working that will allow us to continue servicing our clients but also give our employees greater flexibility and the ability to manage their work/life balance better. As part of the agile working approach, we encourage working how and when suits employees to achieve a balance that works for them. We recognise that each individual’s needs and wants will be different. We trust our employees to focus on outputs and not inputs.

Tetra Tech is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
