We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Electrical Building Services Engineer to support and develop the project delivery capabilities of our busy and successful building services team. Project work will vary across a range of sectors including life sciences, defence, education, commercial, residential, renewable energy, industrial, retail, healthcare and leisure. The successful candidate will have design experience across similar sectors and a good understanding of design experience working through all RIBA stages 1-4.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking calculations, production of drawings, producing specifications and reports.
- Conducting site surveys and construction stage duties.
- Providing client liaison and consulting with members of design/construction teams.
Experience of using Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD to generate design deliverables would be beneficial. Where required, further training in Revit and other systems will be provided. You will have the passion and drive to deliver projects in accordance with the client's brief and programme and will help to develop good client relationships. You should be capable of managing your own workload, working across multiple projects and working to time allocations.
Key responsibilities:
- Conducting electrical services designs across a range of sectors from concept through to completion.
- Producing detailed design calculations to support designs.
- Producing reports, plant schedule and specifications of all aspects of electrical building services.
- Production of design drawings.
- Conducting site surveys to establish condition and operation status of existing installations.
- Ensuring compliance with all aspects of construction health and safety regulations.
- Holding (or meeting the criteria to hold) security clearance to MOD SC level.
Requirements:
- The skill set and passion for engineering with the ability to deliver electrical building services engineering designs across a wide range of sectors.
- Ideally you will have an accredited Building Services /Electrical Engineering ONC/HNC or Degree.
- Post graduate experience in the design of electrical services.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative with the confidence to make decisions.
- Aspirations to pursue career to a senior level and work towards achieving Chartership.
- Knowledge and experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Revit, Relux, Dialux, Amtech, NBS and Microsoft packages.
- Able to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies.
- Have a good knowledge of appropriate technical standards and legislation.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners.
