As a Graduate Hydrogeologist, you will join our groundwater and geothermal business within the wider geo-environmental and mining unit.

You will support groundwater resources, contaminant hydrogeology and geothermal projects across Great Britain, Ireland and internationally.

The team works on high-profile frameworks and contracts, including water supply, remediation, borehole decommissioning and geothermal energy projects.

Your Impact in this position You will assist with the design, procurement, supervision and management of groundwater and geothermal investigations.

Your work will include desktop studies, groundwater surveys, monitoring, testing and assessment, alongside accurate collection and analysis of site data to support modelling.

You will also contribute to detailed factual and interpretative reports, helping clients assess and implement new water supply and geothermal energy systems.

  • Groundwater and geothermal investigations: Support the planning, procurement, supervision and management of field investigations across a varied project portfolio.
  • Hydrogeological assessment: Undertake desktop studies, groundwater surveys, monitoring, testing and assessments to develop robust technical understanding.
  • Data analysis and modelling support: Collect and analyse site data accurately to inform modelling, feasibility studies and technical assessments.
  • Technical reporting: Produce clear and detailed factual reports, progressing towards interpretative reporting as your experience develops.
  • Professional development and teamwork: Build your technical capability through mentoring, project experience, training and chartership support while working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

You will hold a first degree in geology, engineering geology, environmental science or a related subject, together with a Master's or Ph D in groundwater or hydrogeology.

Enthusiasm for groundwater and geothermal energy, strong analytical, written, communication and presentation skills, GIS experience and excellent teamwork are essential.

Relevant work experience, such as a placement, is desirable.

A full clean driving licence is required.

Working Environment

You will be based in either our Cardiff or Birmingham office, with hybrid and flexible working arrangements available in line with team and project requirements.

Office attendance will vary depending on training, collaboration and project needs, with greater flexibility possible as your experience develops.

The role involves travel across including occasional short periods away from home.

A flexible approach to time management and a willingness to travel are therefore essential.
