In an apprentice role, you will work on exciting, ground-breaking projects from day one, with support to grow in your chosen discipline as well as training to develop the core skills needed to succeed in a professional organisation. Our early careers programme gives you the chance to connect with others across the region/business who are also starting their career, as well as mentoring, Chartership support and more.
You will work with the support of senior colleagues on flagship and regionally significant schemes across our defence, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and residential portfolios. You will be involved with the production of designs, specifications, technical reports and site supervision. You will be given the opportunity to work towards professional qualification with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
You will gain experience and understanding of flood risk management, sustainable drainage and highways infrastructure. You will be involved with the design of private and public highways, drainage, including producing specifications, calculations and technical reports. You will gain knowledge of flood risk assessment. You will develop skills in the use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroDrainage.
This position will include day release to complete a fully funded professionally accredited BSc or BEng civil engineering degree at University and the duration of this apprenticeship is approximately 60 months.
Qualification / skills
- A minimum of three A levels at Grades A,A,B including Mathematics and Physical Science or equivalent or will have completed a Level 3 extended Apprenticeship as a Civil Engineering Technician.
- A minimum of Five GCSEβs at Grades 9-4/A* - C including Maths, English and Science or their equivalent.
- A keen interest in Civil Engineering.
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team player displaying enthusiasm, flexibility and versatility.
- MS Office skills.
- Self-Motivated.
- Suitable for SC clearance.
- Desirable - Full, clean UK driving license and ideally access to a vehicle.
