Join us in shaping the future of safe built environments through high precision asbestos air monitoring. Step into a role where technical fieldwork, autonomy and real world impact come together. This is an opportunity to apply specialist expertise on complex sites, contribute to safer operations across diverse environments and progress along a clearly defined career pathway.
We have multiple roles available covering locations across the Southeast and London or the Darlington area in the Northeast. In addition to a very competitive salary and overtime rates, we also offer a company car or a car allowance, giving you the flexibility and support you need for your role.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
In this role you will safeguard people and commercial environments by delivering precise asbestos air monitoring and analysis to UKAS standards. You will carry out air testing, airborne fibre counting, reassurance sampling, leak and smoke testing, and the four‐stage clearances for reoccupation, producing clear, accurate and compliant technical reports.
Your work involves planning and managing your own schedule, reviewing contractors' risk assessments and method statements, completing routine QC slide checks and collaborating closely with clients, contractors and internal colleagues. You will apply HSE guidance, particularly HSG248, and follow approved procedures at every stage to ensure safe and reliable outcomes.
You will report to the Regional Operations Manager and operate across commercial and industrial sites rather than residential settings. Projects vary from single day clearances to multi‐week or multi‐site projects, requiring disciplined coordination of equipment, travel and sample management.
You will work directly with clients, onsite teams and internal quality and operations departments, contributing to audits, method reviews and continuous improvement.
Your Impact in This Position
From the outset you will achieve or maintain UKAS authorisation and deliver consistently accurate monitoring, analysis and clearance reporting. Over time you will take ownership of more complex sites, lead aspects of RAMS review and client briefings, contribute to internal quality performance and share knowledge with colleagues.
You may choose to become dual trained as both Analyst and Surveyor, broadening your technical capability and opening further development pathways. As your experience grows, you will have opportunities to support consultancy activities such as asbestos management planning and advisory work, allowing a gradual transition into more strategic responsibilities where desired.
The career pathway is structured, supportive and flexible, with opportunities to gain further BOHS qualifications and progress into senior analytical, quality or supervisory roles.
Core Capabilities
- Air Testing & Fibre Analysis — You will bring strong competence in asbestos air monitoring and fibre analysis across varied and often challenging environments. This includes carrying out background, personal, leak, smoke and reassurance testing, along with four‐stage clearances for reoccupation. You will confidently use, calibrate and maintain air sampling equipment, apply phase contrast microscopy techniques with precision, and interpret results using sound professional judgement.
- Asbestos Technical Expertise & Regulations — You will apply a solid understanding of asbestos hazards, control measures and relevant legislation, translating regulatory guidance such as HSG248 into clear, safe and effective working practices. You will critically assess RAMS, ensure proposed controls are suitable and defendable, and maintain an up‐to‐date awareness of industry developments to support ongoing compliance and technical credibility.
- Quality Documentation & UKAS Compliance — You will produce documentation that is clear, accurate and aligned with UKAS, HSE and client expectations. From analytical certificates to full technical reports, your work will reflect site conditions accurately and transparently. You will take responsibility for quality assurance activities, including monthly QC slide checks and participation in internal quality systems, maintaining meticulous record‐keeping and escalating non‐conformances where appropriate.
- Time Management & Operational Discipline — You will manage your workload with discipline, ensuring punctual site attendance, timely reporting and reliable coordination of equipment, samples and travel. You will anticipate delays, communicate clearly when plans need to adjust and maintain chain of custody integrity at all times. Your reliability supports smooth project delivery and builds confidence with both clients and colleagues.
- Stakeholder & Client Engagement Communication — You will act as a trusted technical representative on client sites, explaining processes, discussing results and advising on next steps with clarity and confidence. You will adapt your communication style to suit different audiences while safeguarding technical accuracy. Internally, you will work closely with managers, coordinators and the quality team, contributing to a supportive and collaborative environment.
Qualifications & Experience
You will need P403 and P404 or RSPH Level 3 equivalent and proven experience working as an Asbestos Analyst within a UKAS accredited organisation. You'll be confident using digital reporting tools and demonstrate strong numerical and written communication skills. A full UK driving licence is essential due to the field‐based nature of the role.
Working Environment
This role is primarily field based, operating across commercial and industrial premises. You will typically work five days per week on client sites, with travel across the operational region determined by project requirements. We support flexible arrangements, including three‐ or four‐day working weeks. Overtime opportunities may be available and are remunerated at enhanced rates.
