Purpose And Scope Of The Role
Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a Clean Water Hydraulic Modeller to support AMP8 and AMP9 programmes across the UK. You will construct, calibrate and apply hydraulic models (InfoWorks WS, Synergi Water or similar) to deliver optioneering, analysis and design inputs that inform investment and operational decisions. Day-to-day you will lead modelling teams, ensure compliance with client standards, manage commercial performance and contribute to bids and process improvements across regional programmes.
Your Impact In This Position
You will immediately improve model reliability and evidence-based decisions that reduce risk to water supply. Over the medium term you will lead complex modelling projects, shape modelling practice and mentor colleagues. In the longer term this role offers progression to principal or technical leadership, with scope to influence national frameworks and drive digital innovation in modelling workflows.
Core Capabilities
- Hydraulic modelling leadership – Lead model construction, calibration and verification; translate outputs into pragmatic option appraisals and design inputs.
- Technical delivery – Visual Basic or scripting competence desirable; experience with GIS (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS) and data workflows.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Expected:
- Degree in a relevant technical subject.
Desirable:
- Postgraduate qualifications and professional membership.
- Full driving licence preferred.
Work patterns: hybrid working is supported. Regular travel to clients or other offices may be required. Flexible arrangements considered to balance collaboration and focused delivery.
