We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Migration Engineer to lead the migration of enterprise document and records management systems from legacy platforms to Microsoft 365, with SharePoint Online as the core collaboration and document management solution. The role will ensure secure, compliant, and scalable migration aligned with organisational governance, records management, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end migration from legacy document management systems to SharePoint Online
- Design and implement SharePoint information architecture, including:
- Document libraries, metadata, and content types
- Permissions and access governance
- Execute migration waves (pilot → rollout) using approved migration tools
- Implement and configure records management, retention, and compliance using Microsoft Purview
- Work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and Microsoft support
- Support post-migration stabilisation and BAU operations
- Troubleshoot migration, access, and performance issues
- Produce migration documentation, runbooks, and user guidance
- Ensure adherence to security, data protection, and regulatory standards
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams
- Proven experience delivering SharePoint / M365 migrations at enterprise scale
- Hands-on with migration tools such as ShareGate and/or SPMT
- Experience with Microsoft Purview:
- Retention labels and policies
- Records management
- eDiscovery / content search
- PowerShell scripting for administration and automation
- Experience working in regulated or public-sector environments
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills
- Agile delivery experience (Scrum / Kanban)
