We are looking for a Payroll & HR Officer to join our UK HR team. This role is responsible for providing full employee lifecycle support, including ownership of our payroll cycle from start to finish and all HR and benefits administration. You’ll partner with our managers and leaders to ensure an excellent employee experience, whilst ensuring compliance with UK employment legislation and HR best practice.

What you'll do:

Payroll Administration

  • Prepare and submit monthly payroll data for employees, ensuring compliance with UK legislation, HMRC guidance and company policies.
  • All payroll administration, including year-end activities and HMRC reporting. Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, salary reviews, bonuses, overtime, statutory payments, deductions, and pension contributions.
  • Support payroll reconciliations and resolve payroll queries from employees, managers, and Finance.
  • HR Administration and Employee Support

  • Manage all HR administration and records management throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, right to work checks, probation reviews, contractual changes, promotions, transfers, and offboarding.
  • Prepare employment contracts, contract amendments, offer letters, probation confirmation letters, and termination documentation.
  • Administer employee benefits, including pension enrolment, private medical insurance, life assurance, and other company benefit schemes.
  • Act as the first point of contact for HR and payroll queries.
  • Ensure HR practices remain compliant with UK employment legislation, assisting with policy updates in line with legislative changes.
  • Support HR projects, process improvements, reporting, audits, and other operational initiatives as required.
  • Requirements

    Essential

  • Experience in a HR role, such as HR Operations, HR Administrator or HR Assistant.
  • Experience in a role with responsibility for payroll and benefits administration.
  • Knowledge of HMRC, statutory payments, pension auto-enrolment, year-end payroll processes, and payroll compliance.
  • Knowledge of HR practices, including a thorough understanding of UK employment law and GDPR. Familiar with UK employee lifecycle processes and employment documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail, with a systematic approach to problem solving and informed decision-making.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills - you tailor your approach to your audience, and handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Preferred

  • A HR qualification, such as CIPD Level 3 or Level 5.
  • Familiarity with ADP and BambooHR.
