Technical Solution Engineer in Sheffield

Responsibilities:

• Design and evolve enterprise-scale data and analytics platforms built using open-source technologies.
• Evaluate open-source components and vendor technologies through technical assessments and proof-of-concept implementations.
• Document architectural trade-offs and drive technology standardisation across engineering platforms.
• Own end-to-end solution designs for custom-built cybersecurity applications.
• Translate business cybersecurity data and regulatory requirements into secure and supportable technical solutions.
• Provide architecture and solution design guidance to software engineering, data engineering, and platform teams.
• Collaborate with architecture and governance teams to ensure alignment with policies, controls, standards, and technical guardrails.
• Facilitate technical design workshops, architecture reviews, and governance forums.
• Design solutions that are secure, scalable, resilient, cost-effective, and operationally supportable.
• Embed security controls covering identity and access, encryption, secrets management, logging, vulnerability management, and supply chain security.
• Support engineering teams from requirements and design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Contribute hands-on to technical delivery including coding, prototyping, and solution validation where required.
• Maintain technical documentation and communicate architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work across globally distributed teams and influence delivery outcomes without formal authority.

To be successful in this role you should have:

• Demonstrable experience designing, deploying, and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Big Data technologies and petabyte-scale data environments.
• Strong end-to-end Solution Architecture and Technical Design experience.
• Experience creating HLDs, LLDs, reference architectures, design patterns, and Architecture Decision Records.
• Experience evaluating technologies, running proof of concepts, and documenting technical trade-offs.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and traditional on-premises hosting environments.
• Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP is beneficial.
• Experience designing custom applications from requirements through production operations and support.
• Understanding of Threat Modelling and Secure-by-Design practices.
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management including RBAC, ABAC, privileged access, and service-to-service authentication.
• Understanding of encryption in transit and at rest, key management, and secrets management.
• Knowledge of secure logging, telemetry, auditability, and evidence-based control assurance.
• Understanding of Secure SDLC, Vulnerability Management, and Software Supply Chain Security.
• Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to balance target architecture with delivery timelines, operational requirements, and cost constraints.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate across different geographies, time zones, and cultures.
