Scope of Work / Responsibilities

  • Perform standard DBA activities in SAP on Oracle environments (24x7 production support as required).
  • Work closely with SAP Basis teams for planned activities and incidents.

Compression Knowledge (Mandatory)

  • Strong understanding of Oracle Standard Compression and Advanced Compression.
  • Ability to identify compressed DBA objects: Tables, Indexes, LOBs / SecureFiles.
  • Assess compression usage from technical and licensing perspectives.

DBA Object Identification & Management

  • Identify and manage DBA objects in SAP schemas (tables, indexes, partitions, LOB segments).
  • Perform table reorganization, index rebuilds, and space reclamation activities.

Storage & Tablespace Management

  • Create and manage Tablespaces and Datafiles.
  • Monitor and manage database growth, space utilization, and capacity planning.
  • Perform datafile resize, add/drop datafiles as per SAP standards.

SAP-Specific DBA Operations

  • BRSPACE for space and object management.
  • BRBACKUP / BRARCHIVE for backup coordination.
  • Follow SAP Notes, SAP-recommended procedures, and change management.

Performance & Stability

  • Monitor database performance and ensure system stability.
  • Gather optimizer statistics and support performance tuning activities.

Mandatory Skills

  • SAP Oracle DBA with strong hands-on production support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of BRTools (mandatory).
  • Solid experience in tablespace, datafile, and storage management.

Good to Have

  • Exposure to Oracle licensing and audit scenarios.
  • Automation using SQL / PL/SQL or shell scripting.
