This opportunity is in the solution design and development arena for Company Accountant who understand and communicate complex technical information, serve as a liaison between clients and technical teams, and provide strategic solutions that meet client needs.
Job Description (Main Duties and Responsibilities)
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with UK GAAP/IFRS.
- Maintain accurate financial records including ledgers, journals, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee payroll, VAT returns, and corporation tax compliance in coordination with HMRC requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and ensure timely completion.
- Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic planning.
- Monitor cash flow, banking, and investment activities.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Advise on financial implications of business activities and contribute to decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with Companies House and other statutory filing requirements.
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations and best practices.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Needed [The candidate must demonstrate these in all stages of assessment]
- Bachelor\βs degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience with financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel for financial analysis and reporting (e.g., pivot tables, macros).
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and ERP systems.
- Good skills with financial analysis for EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization)
- Proven experience in a similar accounting role (minimum 3 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of UK tax law, financial reporting, and statutory obligations.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Experience in working with SMEs or within the [industry] sector.
