Application Architect

Job Responsibilities:

1. Evidence of strong process, technical and team leadership skills, with a passion for delivering leading edge designs and inspiring a culture of technical excellence and innovative solution design.
2. Experience of navigating the complex landscapes of technologies, 3rd party suppliers (driving the procurement process), internal and cross-government (or similarly complex) teams.
3. Management & delivery of complex service solutions within time, cost and quality targets, ensuring solutions are robust, resilient, and appropriately implemented, tested and documented.
4. Work in digital technologies and approaches including cloud (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS/cloud native), common front and back end technologies, software defined infrastructure, continuous delivery and DevOps. AWS cloud experience preferable.
5. Design hybrid solution and migration path for on-prem / cloud services.
6. Experience of owning and contributing to the technical roadmap and strategy.
7. Experience in anticipating and advising on future technology changes that present opportunities for the application or service.
8. Ability to communicate clearly in a language which meets the needs of different users/stakeholders through selecting the appropriate channels & formats and managing expectations whilst adapting to stakeholder\’s reactions with flexibility.
9. Identifying process improvements and defining best practice, inspiring teams to follow it.
10. Understanding of Lean, Agile and DevOps principles.
11. Mentor team of varied experience levels.
12. Certification – preferably in TOGAF, Oracle, AWS Solution Architect Associate/Professional or similar.

Essential Skills:

1. SME & Expertise in varied Architecture Landscape touch points of both On-Prem & Cloud, Hybrid, varied Programming Languages, Infrastructure(DR), Security, CI/CD, Scalability, Resilience and Performance.
2. Expertise in Relational/Oracle, NoSQL Database concepts.
3. Experience in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Developer, Toad & DW DBA knowledge, gap analysis, performance analysis and proposing solutions based on varied product evaluations in current market.
4. Strong Architectural & hands-on experience in Oracle, MongoDB & DynamoDB.
5. Ability to evaluate, run POC and suggest to Business & Tech stakeholders of products fit for purpose addressing the performance & other bottlenecks in BAU system.
6. Strong background in Integration technologies and platforms such as Mulesoft.
7. Expertise in Integration patterns involving files (using FTP, SFTP, MoveIT), MQ, CDC, Message Bus, Hub & Spoke, Pub/Sub.
8. Experience in implementation of Security standards for Data in Transit & Rest such as TLS / SSL, Data Encryption.
9. Knowledge in MQ & AMQ concepts such as RabbitMQ & Oracle MQ.
10. Expertise Knowledge in Data Management workflow & integration such as Data Lake, ETL, Data Ingestion, Sharding, Data Stream, Data Catalogue, Data Cleansing, Data Analytics, Batch, Scheduling.
11. Implementation knowledge on principles such as ACID, SOLID, OWASP.
12. Implementation of designs related to Batch processing patterns involving Talend, Databricks, Snowflake or similar.
13. Experience of running GDPR related projects involving Data Sourcing, Validations, Integration, Data Disposition, Auditing & Reporting.
14. Ability to treat Data as an Asset and Architect & provide Solutions aligned to it.
15. Strong working knowledge in Java 8+ with Clean Architecture, Mockito, Java Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Apache Camel.
16. Needs to possess an expert depth and breadth of knowledge regarding multiple technologies and their inter-relationships, e.g.: Web applications, Java & Oracle.
17. Extensive experience working in Java, microservice architecture, containerisation, enterprise integration patterns, data storage in a highly available, distributed products.
18. Cloud native delivery skills following open standards in – Containers As a Service/PaaS/IaaS, AWS CDK, Fargate, Secrets manager, Lambda, ECS, EKS, S3, MongoDB Atlassian, Serverless Functions and data insight solutions.
19. Experience in designing systems for integration and re-use, using frameworks/standards, technologies and design patterns such as API Gateways, REST, Message Brokers and token-based security.
20. Expertise in Auth & Auth principles & tools such as SAML, OpenID, OAuth, JWT, OKTA, AWS Cognito, Hashicorp Vault.
21. Designing solution and leading digital delivery teams to using Agile and DevOps methodologies to ensure automation and delivery pipelines flowing from development, testing, infrastructure as code to automated deployment.
22. A demonstrable record of designing solutions to key non-functional requirements including cyber/security policies, resilience, logging, errors and scalability abiding SLA.
23. Experience in creating & guiding in Architecture Artefacts such as Tech/Arch Roadmap/Strategy, High Level Design, LLD, Estimation, Product Evaluation Matrix, Gap Analysis, Performance Matrix.
24. Enterprise Architecture knowledge and practical exposure to TOGAF or Zachman.
