Are you an experienced HGV driver who enjoys working outdoors and leading a team? We have an exciting opportunity for a Driver Chargehand to join our Environmental Services team.

In this role you will work in a key role driving a waste vehicle and delivering an essential service for the residents of the Borough. You will be leading and motivating a small team of waste collection operatives to ensure rounds are completed safely and efficiently, working collaboratively to deliver high quality service. You’ll also take responsibility for vehicle checks, defect reporting, and maintaining accurate paperwork.

This is a physically demanding role that requires working in all weather conditions, but it’s also rewarding for those who enjoy teamwork and making a difference within our community.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:

  • A valid Category C (HGV) license
  • Driver CPC qualification (training can be provided for the right candidate)
  • Experience supervising a team and working with the public
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • A proactive, reliable, and safety‑conscious approach
