Looking to develop yourself further and embark upon your new exciting career?

Do you want to be part of a forward-thinking organisation that’s at the cutting edge of tackling homelessness & housing need? If so, we want to hear from you.

We have an exciting opportunity in our busy Lettings team. This team is part of the Council’s Housing and Environmental Service where you will be working alongside experienced colleagues gaining valuable skills whilst also studying for a Level 3 Business Administration qualification.

Throughout our apprentices’ first year of employment we provide a skills programme where they attend regular workshops to build workplace skills such as communication, presentation, first aid, project management and an opportunity for job shadowing. Attending these events also enables our apprentices to meet up with apprentices from across the Council and begin to build a network of contacts and support.

As well as support from their manager and colleagues, all our apprentices are offered a mentor; an experienced person from another part of the Council who can offer confidential guidance and advice to help with learning, development and building confidence at work.

We place a high value on our apprentices:

  • Being Self Motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Committing to learning new skills
  • Ideally having 5 GCSE’s at grade 4 (previously a grade C) or above including Maths and English or equivalent (but if you’ve not achieved this, we will support you to achieve them)

We offer a competitive salary of £8.58 per hour, and after completing your first year, this will increase to £9.20 per hour or the national minimum wage (whichever is greater). You’ll also receive excellent benefits such as;

  • A generous annual leave entitlement
  • Free parking for work
  • Pension
  • A discount at People for Places Leisure centres
  • Friendly working environment.

We are a progressive council that places great importance on living our values and behaviours in terms of how we work and deliver our services.
