We’re nationally recognised for our place-based approach and the way we empower communities to plan in a preventative and asset-based way to support their local resilience in the event of an emergency. As part of our Legal and Democratic Service, you’ll work across services to build on our approach to working with communities to understand and plan for emergency incidents. You will provide support for the day-to-day management and delivery of projects and activities to support the development and delivery of the Council’s planning processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting communities to understand their local assets and plan for emergency incidents.
  • Preparing and maintaining emergency plans, forging strong links to community resilience plans.
  • Preparing and delivering training and development; providing support, advice and guidance to officers and members of the community before, during and after incidents.
  • Contributing to service transformation and innovation across the council.
  • Collaborating with teams to support understanding of community resilience and emergency planning across the organisation and with partners.
  • Enhancing local democracy and resilience through creative and forward-thinking approaches.

You’ll work across our communities to proactively communicate, network and engage with community representatives to support them in identifying, prioritising and mitigating against actions and developing local community resilience plans. Ensure the Council’s Emergency plan has clear links to, and takes into account, local community resilience plans from across the borough and raise awareness of our approach across services.
