We are seeking an experienced Azure Solution Architect to design and implement cloud-based solutions for power utilities in the UK. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft Azure services, cloud architecture best practices, and enterprise-scale solution delivery. This role involves working closely with stakeholders, technical teams, and business units to ensure secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Design & Architecture
- Design end-to-end Azure-based solutions aligned with organisation's business and technical requirements.
- Define architecture standards, patterns, and governance for cloud adoption.
- Conduct stakeholder workshops, design discussions and obtain approvals on proposed architecture.
- Drive solution implementation as per approved architecture.
- Develop incremental architecture on top of baseline (approved) to meet changing/evolving requirements and obtain approvals for the change.
- Cloud Migration & Integration
- Lead migration of on-premise workloads to Azure.
- Lead migration of solutions from cloud to cloud.
- Integrate Azure services with existing enterprise systems.
- Security & Compliance
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory and organisation compliance standards.
- Implement identity, access management, and data protection strategies.
- Performance & Cost Optimization
- Optimize cloud resources for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Collaboration & Leadership
- Work with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Data, Integration, Networking) to deliver solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to project teams.
- Documentation & Governance
- Maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and solution roadmaps as per the organisation templates.
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Expertise
- Strong experience in Microsoft Azure (Compute, Networking, Storage, Security, Monitoring).
- Proficiency in Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM/Bicep/Terraform.
- Knowledge of Azure Active Directory, RBAC, and security best practices.
- Architecture & Design
- Experience in designing highly available, scalable, and secure cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with microservices, containerization (AKS, Docker).
- Data & Integration
- Understanding of Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, SQL DB).
- Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (preferred).
- Soft Skills
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Power network utilities.
- Knowledge of Power Systems, Data Analytics, and AI integration in Azure.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in UK utilities.
Competency Building and Branding
- Ensure completion of necessary trainings and certifications.
- Develop Proof of Concepts (POCs), case studies, demos etc. for new growth areas based on market and customer research.
- Develop and present a point of view of Wipro on solution design and architect by writing white papers, blogs etc.
- Attain market referencability and recognition through highest analyst rankings, client testimonials and partner credits.
- Be the voice of Wipro’s Thought Leadership by speaking in forums (internal and external).
- Mentor developers, designers and Junior architects in the project for their further career development and enhancement.
- Contribute to the architecture practice by conducting selection interviews etc.
