Salary: Negotiable subject to capabilities and experience.
Company Overview: Test Inc is the UKs leading provider of electrical compliance, and maintenance services, specialising in complex and critical environments. We partner with enterprise and mission-critical clients to manage, maintain, and assure their electrical infrastructure is resilient, efficient, and compliant by developing new to world technologies, data, systems, and process-driven insight rather than reactive, construction-led approaches. We do not operate on a traditional short-term construction model. We are focused exclusively within the built environment, operating multi-year contracts, frameworks, and strategic partnerships, underpinned by technology, transparency, and repeatable commercial models. As we continue to scale across the UK and prepare for international expansion, we are deliberately building a business designed to reject the dysfunction that has become normalised across much of the construction industry.
Who We Are: We are a technology-led electrical engineering, compliance, service, and maintenance business built for long-term partnerships - not short-term wins. We are commercially disciplined, data-informed, and systems-driven. We price work to be delivered properly, sustainably, and repeatedly - not to "win it and worry later". We work with enterprise and mission-critical clients who value clarity, professionalism, and calm competence. We believe estimators are key strategic commercial partners, not spreadsheet operators or convenient scapegoats. We value long-term thinking over short-term margin grabs, collaboration over confrontation, accountability over excuses, and adult conversations over theatrics. We are building a business - and a team - designed to last and scale, globally.
Who We Are Not: We are not a traditional construction contractor, leave your ego at the door. We are not a blame culture dressed up as pressure. We are not last-minute tenders thrown over the fence on a Friday afternoon. We are not claims-led, variation-dependent, or retention-reliant. We are not shouting, chest-beating, or 'conflict-as-management'. We do not normalise poor scoping and "we'll sort it later" pricing, payment delays as a business model, commercial ambushes between departments, or estimators carrying responsibility for structural problems. If you thrive on chaos, confrontation, or transactional wins, this will not be the right environment for you. If you value clarity, respect, structure, and long-term impact, it almost certainly will be.
Job Brief: We are seeking a commercially astute, growth focused leader to drive and develop our commercial operations including Pricing, Estimation, and Bid functions. This is a high-impact role responsible for establishing robust commercial systems and governance, improving pricing consistency, increasing bid throughput, and protecting margin through disciplined scope control and risk management. You will lead the end-to-end estimation and bid process, coordinating inputs from relevant business functions, producing accurate and competitive commercial submissions that align with our delivery capability and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the end-to-end estimating and bid process from bid/no-bid through to delivery.
- Implement and maintain bid governance (stage gates, review cadence, sign-off matrix, and version control).
- Set and maintain pricing rules (margin floors, risk/contingency approach, and approval thresholds for exceptions).
- Provide leadership across function to ensure timely inputs, decisions, and clear ownership of actions.
- Mentor and support the development of commercial capability across the business (as the function scales).
Who We're Looking For: Somebody with proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within technically complex environments. A strong understanding of electrical systems from a lifecycle and compliance perspective. Comfortable working with data, systems, and structured commercial models. A calm, professional, and commercially grounded approach. Someone who values long-term partnerships over the short-term wins. A desire to build a respected, long-term career within an ambitious, growth focused business.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience leading estimating and/or a commercial function within electrical, M&E, construction, or maintenance/FM sectors.
- Demonstrable track record of driving cross-functional outcomes and delivering bids to deadline.
- Strong commercial competence across pricing, risk, and bid governance; comfortable making decisions and holding standards.
- Practical electrical knowledge sufficient to interrogate scope, challenge assumptions, and identify missing information (BS 7671 awareness expected).
- Experience developing and embedding processes, systems, and standard ways of working (rate libraries, templates, governance).
- Strong Excel/commercial modelling capability; familiarity with estimation tools and reporting platforms is desirable.
Why Join Test Inc?: A technology-first business, not a traditional contractor. Long-term contracts and enterprise partnerships. Predictable workloads and commercially sensible planning. No blame culture, no shouting, no artificial conflict. Leadership that understands systems, delivery, and people. A culture that recognises and rewards integrity, teamwork, and professionalism. Genuine progression opportunities as the business scales nationally and internationally.
The Opportunity: If you are an estimator who believes the electrical and compliance sectors should be run more like a professional, technology-enabled service business - and less like a perpetual commercial battleground - this role offers exactly that. At Test Inc, we are building long-term partnerships with our clients, and long-term careers for our people.
Benefits:
- Exclusive Discounts: Enjoy special offers on dining at a variety of pubs and restaurants throughout the UK.
- Additional exclusive savings on entertainment, gifts, shopping, and services through our Employee Discounts programme.
- Laptop and mobile phone provided.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Company pension plan.
- On-site parking.
- Summer BBQ and team-building events.
- Free refreshments.
- Associate Referral Schemes.
- End of year Christmas shutdown.
- Professional Development - Funding for certifications, courses, and further education.
- Clear promotion pathways - Structured opportunities for advancement within the company, with support for upskilling.
- Generous annual leave: 23 days plus 8 bank holidays, with an extra day for the first 2 years of service.
