The Group SHEQ Advisor is responsible for the coordination, implementation and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) activities across PMK and Precision Switchgear. Acting as the primary point of contact for all SHEQ-related matters, the role ensures compliance with legislative, regulatory and certification requirements whilst promoting a positive culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement throughout both businesses.

A key part of the role is maintaining the Group's Integrated Management System, supporting ISO certifications, conducting audits and inspections, investigating incidents, delivering training, and providing practical SHEQ advice to management, employees, clients and contractors. The role supports SHEQ activities across all Group operations, including PMK and Precision Switchgear, and requires regular collaboration with management teams, employees, customers, contractors and certification bodies.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SHEQ professional looking to progress their career and take ownership of a Group-wide SHEQ function. The role is ideally suited to an individual who is ready to move beyond a traditional SHEQ Officer position and develop their capability in managing SHEQ activities across multiple businesses. Working closely with senior management, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping compliance, driving continuous improvement and embedding a positive SHEQ culture across PMK and Precision Switchgear.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary SHEQ point of contact across the Group.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Group's SHEQ Management System.
  • Support and coordinate compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Assist with the preparation, coordination and management of internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant SHEQ legislation, regulations, standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, registers and associated documentation.
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement updates as required.
  • Review existing processes and recommend improvements to enhance SHEQ performance.

Health & Safety

  • Develop, review and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Conduct routine site, workplace, office and yard inspections to identify hazards and monitor compliance.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented and closed out.
  • Coordinate health surveillance activities and occupational health requirements.
  • Support the management of statutory inspections, LOLER examinations and equipment compliance records.
  • Promote safe systems of work across all areas of the business.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Deliver SHEQ inductions for employees, contractors and visitors.
  • Coordinate training requirements and maintain training records.
  • Produce and distribute toolbox talks and monitor completion rates.
  • Support apprenticeship programmes, training initiatives and employee awareness campaigns.
  • Promote a proactive culture of safety, quality, wellbeing and environmental responsibility throughout the Group.

Auditing & Reporting

  • Carry out internal audits and inspections across all Group operations.
  • Coordinate external certification and customer audits.
  • Prepare SHEQ reports, KPI data and recommendations for Senior Management.
  • Monitor trends and key SHEQ metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Track and ensure completion of corrective actions arising from audits, inspections and investigations.

Contractor & Supplier Compliance

  • Manage subcontractor pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and approval processes.
  • Maintain subcontractor compliance records and registers.
  • Monitor contractor performance and competency requirements.
  • Support customer, supplier and client compliance requirements.

Administration

  • Maintain SHEQ records, registers and documentation.
  • Support administration of ECS Cards, CSR Cards and employee competency records.
  • Maintain records relating to audits, inspections, incidents, training and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings, agendas, minutes and action tracking.
  • Provide general administration support associated with the SHEQ function.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Essential NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience within a SHEQ, Health & Safety, Compliance or Quality role, with experience of working independently and managing multiple priorities.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits and incident investigations.
  • Experience developing and reviewing RAMS.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Desirable Degree, Diploma or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Experience working within construction, electrical or engineering sectors.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience using SHEQ management software.

This role requires occasional travel between Group locations and customer sites as required. The successful candidate will be expected to act as a visible ambassador for Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality standards across the Group and contribute to the ongoing development of a positive, compliant and continuously improving workplace culture.
