An exciting time to lead, build and shape the future. This is a truly unique opportunity to join JDP at a pivotal and exciting stage of growth. We have recently appointed a contractor to deliver a brand new, bespoke fabrication facility in Longtown, Carlisle. This state-of-the-art fab shop will house new machinery and expanded capabilities, enabling us to grow our already highly successful fabrication operation and continue to deliver outstanding solutions to our customers. To support this investment, we are seeking an experienced and driven Fabrications Manager to lead our fabrication operations and play a key role in shaping the future of the facility from day one.
About JDP’s Fab Shop: JDP’s Fab Shop is a trusted provider of bespoke plastic pipe fabrication solutions, serving construction, infrastructure and utilities sectors across the UK. Our offering includes custom-built chambers, manifolds, welding services and tailored fabrication projects, underpinned by high standards of quality, safety and customer service. This new purpose-built facility represents a significant investment in people, plant and process — and the Fabrications Manager will be central to its success.
The Role: As Fabrications Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the fabrication operation. You will lead the team, oversee production, and ensure that quality, safety, efficiency and customer satisfaction are at the heart of everything we do.
- Managing and developing the fab shop team of 5, growing to 7
- Leading production planning, scheduling and workflow to meet customer demand and deadlines
- Overseeing the transition into the new fabrication facility and embedding best-in-class ways of working
- Ensuring all work is delivered in line with quality standards, technical specifications and customer requirements
- Driving a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards
- Managing budgets, costs and resources to maximise efficiency and profitability
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, capability, and capacity as the business continues to grow
- Managing the price file for the product portfolio
About You: You will be a confident, hands-on leader with a strong background in fabrication or manufacturing operations. Ideally, you will bring:
- Proven experience managing a fabrication, manufacturing or industrial workshop environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- A practical understanding of fabrication processes (plastic or pipework experience is advantageous, but not essential)
- Experience of production planning, operational efficiency and continuous improvement
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong organisational skills
- A commitment to high standards of safety, quality and customer service
- The ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders
