This role is based in the UK and will be working on site at our UK‐based College. In order to comply with mandatory pre‐employment checks, the successful candidate must provide original identification documents in person to our People Services Team.

This role requires experience of teaching GCSE and FS English, preferably in Further Education. We are looking for Lecturers interested in either hourly paid, part‐time or full‐time roles across all of our colleges: Leamington Spa, Moreton Morrell, Warwick Trident, Rugby and Pershore.

Any offers of appointment will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, a certificate of good conduct if applicable, satisfactory references, occupational health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within regulated activity within a specific place (i.e. the College). This role is classed as working within Regulated Activity. It is an offence to apply for this role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children. By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations.

Main Tasks

  • Teaching – contribute to the teaching programme delivering the subject.
  • Preparation and assessment – develop and produce teaching materials, paperwork and assessment records, and keep accurate data.
  • Administration – undertake administrative tasks relating to the programme(s) you teach, under the guidance of the Head of Department.
  • Quality systems – undertake internal verification as required. All lecturers will have an observed lesson each academic year.
  • Health and safety – ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, students and visitors in line with the HASAW Act and the College Health and Safety Policy.
  • Safeguarding – safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults for whom you are responsible and whom you come into contact with.
  • Exam invigilator duties – you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties during busy exam periods; training will be provided.

Essential Attainments

  • A degree in English or related disciplines such as Linguistics, TESOL, CELTA / DELTA or equivalent.
  • GCSE grade A–C or equivalent qualification in Maths and English.
  • Level 5 Teacher Training Qualification or willingness to undertake the courses required to gain this.
  • Experience of teaching GCSE and FS English, preferably in Further Education.
  • Strong administrative skills, including IT skills.
  • Willingness to undertake continuing professional development.
  • Maintenance of CPD and update of industry‐specific skills on an annual basis.

Desirable Attainments

  • Previous experience of teaching at the relevant level and subject.
  • Understanding of challenges in English teaching.
