Our goal is to empower every student to achieve their goals in a safe and positive learning environment, whether they are building language skills, developing 21st-century leadership and a global mindset, or preparing for study at a top UK boarding school or university.

The Centre Manager (CM) is the senior post responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre in a 2- to 6-week contract. The CM oversees finance, budgets, staffing, accommodation, client relations and liaison with college staff. The CM is the Safeguarding Lead and will receive dedicated safeguarding training.

  • Ensure all materials and equipment are ready for opening.
  • Provide a comprehensive induction day for all staff, outlining roles and performance expectations.
  • Lead regular meetings with staff and with college administrative officers (catering, accommodation) to maintain high standards.
  • Liaise with Head Office regarding student numbers, arrivals, departures and cancellations.
  • Submit staff payroll on time in accordance with Recruitment Manager dates.
  • Manage the centre budget and petty cash, completing the weekly finance and administration report.
  • Monitor student pocket money and keep payment ledger accurate.
  • Work with senior staff to maintain discipline among staff and students.
  • Maintain control over student security.
  • Act as Safeguarding Lead, monitoring the MyConcern App and taking appropriate action in consultation with the Bucksmore Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Allocate rooms to students promptly on arrival and inspect rooms for damage on departure.
  • Monitor staffing levels, ensuring adequate coverage in consultation with Head Office.
  • Shut down the centre at course end, return all materials, and provide an end-of-course report.
  • Ensure all staff receive appraisal meetings, and pass these to HR.
  • Devote full time, attention and abilities to the business and affairs of the centre, acting in a manner that does not bring Bucksmore into disrepute.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK prior to commencement of employment.
  • Native or native-level proficiency in English.
  • Management experience in a residential environment with young people (school, university, summer school or similar).
  • Experience working with young learners and delivering a study programme for them.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and data management.
  • Experience with international students, familiarity with cultural differences, and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Weekly rate: £935.20 – £1127.10 (holiday pay calculated on top).
  • A weekly accommodation offset will be deducted from salary.
  • All meals are provided.
  • Successful candidates will require an Enhanced DBS check; Bucksmore will cover the upfront cost (£49.50), with 50% recouped from the first pay run.
  • Returnees must maintain the DBS Update Service subscription to avoid full cost of a new Enhanced DBS check.
