The predicted salary is between 29498 - 36873 ÂŁ per year.

Starting salary £29,498.40 per annum for a 28.8‑hour week. The full‑time equivalent salary is £36,873 per annum. This ESOL Programme Lead role will lead a busy, dynamic and growing department that delivers ESOL Skills for Life courses. Provision is face‑to‑face during the day at our Camberley, Guildford, Molesey and Sunbury Centres, with remote classes offered in the evenings. The position is based at one of our centres and may involve travel within Surrey to other centres and venues, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ESOL provision in partnership with another ESOL Programme Lead, fostering a high‑performing team culture based on collaboration, accountability and shared purpose.
  • Enable tutors to deliver consistently high standards across remote and face‑to‑face learning.
  • Build strong operational links with Admissions and Exams to ensure accurate learner placement through effective initial assessment and the smooth, compliant delivery of Trinity ESOL Skills for Life examinations across Surrey.
  • Line‑manage a team of part‑time ESOL tutors.
  • Champion high‑quality, learner‑centred provision aligned with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework and the service’s Quality Framework.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring consistently positive learner outcomes.
  • Maintain robust quality assurance processes and ensure all provision meets awarding body requirements.
  • Report to the Skills and Employability Manager and contribute to strategic planning and development of a responsive ESOL curriculum.
  • Shape inclusive and aspirational learning programmes that respond to local and national priorities, widening participation and supporting progression into further learning, employment and community engagement.
  • Commit to continuous improvement, raising aspirations, improving outcomes and delivering a meaningful, measurable impact on learners’ lives.

Qualifications

  • Recognised teaching qualification and substantial experience teaching ESOL Skills for Life, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Proven experience conducting or participating in formal observations of teaching and learning, aligned with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
  • Demonstrated success in an Ofsted‑regulated environment to maintain and enhance high standards of teaching, learning and learner support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong IT proficiency to support teaching, planning and quality assurance.
  • Experience in marking and internal verification (IV) of vocational qualifications, ensuring compliance with awarding body standards and supporting learner achievement.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Surrey; access to a vehicle where required.
