About The Role
Connex Education is recruiting experienced and enthusiastic Level 2 or 3 Qualified Teaching Assistants to work within a variety of welcoming primary schools in Somerset. Flexible opportunities are available on a day‑to‑day supply basis, alongside short‑term and long‑term placements starting from September 2026. The schools are part of the Bristol, Weston and Somerset Multi‑Academy Trust (BWMAT), a highly respected trust known for its inclusive values, robust leadership and commitment to delivering high‑quality education.
As a Level 2 / 3 Qualified Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Your role will involve helping pupils access the curriculum, delivering targeted interventions, and contributing to a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
Your Responsibilities May Include
- Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom
- Working with pupils individually and in small groups
- Delivering intervention sessions in literacy and numeracy
- Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Supporting pupils with additional learning or behavioural needs
- Promoting positive behaviour and pupil engagement
- Helping to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications
- Hold a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
- Have experience working within a UK primary school setting
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Have a good understanding of safeguarding and classroom expectations
- Have knowledge of Phonics and Read Write Inc.
- Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
