About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting passionate and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistants to work within a range of welcoming primary schools across Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding areas. Opportunities are available on both a flexible supply basis and for short‑term and long‑term placements starting from September 2026. We work closely with a highly respected Multi‑Academy Trust across the Southwest, known for its inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and commitment to providing high‑quality early years education. Schools within the Trust place a strong emphasis on creating engaging, supportive and child‑centred learning environments where every pupil can thrive.
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children during the early stages of their education. You will work closely with class teachers to support learning through play, encourage social and emotional development, and help create a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Support children within Nursery and Reception classes.
- Assist with phonics, early literacy and numeracy activities.
- Encourage learning through play and interactive activities.
- Support children’s social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Work with pupils on a one‑to‑one basis and in small groups.
- Help create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.

Person Specification:
- Genuine passion for working with young children.
- Patient, caring and enthusiastic.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
- Experience working with EYFS‑aged children (desirable but not essential).
- Knowledge of Phonics or Read Write Inc. (desirable).
- Adaptable, reliable and proactive.
- DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
