We are delighted to invite applications for a Lecturer in Electrical Engineering to join our Engineering team at Sandwell College on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an industry experienced professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of electricians and electrical engineers within the Further Education sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, workshop instruction, and assessment in Electrical Engineering and Electrical Installation.
  • Develop engaging learning materials and practical activities that promote learner participation and achievement.
  • Support and motivate learners through effective tutorial support, progress monitoring, and intervention strategies.
  • Set and mark assignments, assessments, and examinations, maintaining accurate learner records.
  • Lead and contribute to curriculum development, course planning, and quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in internal verification and quality assurance processes in line with awarding organisation requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge through CPD and engagement with employers and industry partners.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, Prevent, and British Values throughout all aspects of the role.
  • Ensure compliance with College policies, health & safety, and data protection procedures.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A degree or alternative professional qualification in a subject relevant to the area you will be teaching.
  • Hold 18th Edition certification.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (L5 or above) or willingness to work towards obtaining this qualification.
  • Practical specific experience of work within industry sector role as either an electrician or lecturer in electrical installations.
  • Proven successful experience of delivering high quality teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Proven experience of supporting learners to achieve within a College environment.
  • Proven ability to develop good classroom practice and teach electrical installation to a high standard.
  • Evidence of a learner-centred approach throughout all aspects of the role.

Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding Qualifications

To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:

  • DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • Certificate in Education
  • PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
  • ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
  • DiT (Diploma in Teaching) - if for a vocational subject

If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).

  • PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
  • CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
