Connex Education is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of primary schools in Taunton. Opportunities are available on a day‑to‑day supply basis, as well as short‑term and long‑term placements starting from September 2026.
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Responsibilities may include:
- Delivering planned lessons in the teacher’s absence
- Leading small group interventions
- Providing one‑to‑one support
- Helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment for pupils

Person Specification
- A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification (commonly Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning)
- HLTA status or willingness to work towards HLTA status
- Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
- Ability to lead whole‑class learning when required
- Good behaviour management and communication skills
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Must hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
