TeacherActive is proud to partner with Schools and Local Authorities in your area, and we are currently seeking experienced and qualified EAL / ESOL Tutors and Teachers to help transform the lives of vulnerable young people in your community.
This role is specifically suited to professionals with proven EAL/ESOL teaching experience and recognised teaching qualifications, who are confident working with disengaged, at-risk, and vulnerable learners. You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, creatively, and in a trauma-informed way, making a meaningful difference to both your own career and the lives of the young people you support.
The role:
- Deliver in-person tuition to children, teenagers, and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other additional needs.
- Support pupils from KS1 to KS5 (in line with your experience and specialism), referred by local authorities and schools.
- Plan and deliver individualised, trauma-informed sessions that meet complex educational and emotional needs.
- Provide regular, detailed feedback on learner progress to support ongoing development.
Essential requirements:
- Recognised professional teaching qualifications, such as CELTA, TEFL, TESOL, QTS, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience teaching EAL/ESOL, ideally within alternative provision, SEND, or local authority settings.
- Experience working with children and young people with additional needs, particularly SEND and SEMH.
- Experience supporting learners with MLD, SLD, and PMLD is highly desirable.
- Experience using therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches to support vulnerable learners.
