The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative colleague to support the delivery of a high-quality front-line service in the Learning Resources Centre (LRC), assisting learners and staff in their use of the library’s physical and online resources. You will be supervising daily operations and coordinating the work of LRC Assistants under the guidance of the Campus Library Manager.

You will be working across our campuses at both Poplar and Arbour Square.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service and support users in accessing LRC resources and IT facilities.
  • Manage the LRC enquiry desk, including user registration, stock circulation, room bookings, and handling payments.
  • Supervise students and maintain a safe, productive learning environment.
  • Provide basic IT support and assist students with disabilities or learning difficulties.
  • Support information retrieval and promote digital resources.
  • Maintain accurate records, manage stock, and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Task-manage a team of LRC Assistants.

Who You Are:

You need to be educated to A-level equivalent standard, with experience of library work, looking to step up. You should be passionate about delivering a high-quality service and have the flexibility, creativity and imagination to engage every learner and encourage them to succeed.

Good IT skills are essential as you will be supporting students’ computer use in addition to meeting their reading and information needs.

You will be capable of working both as part of a team and independently and be committed to delivering equality, diversity and safeguarding policies.

We serve a culturally and socially diverse community and offer a wide variety of courses including Access to HE, ESOL, creative and performing arts, business and SEND.

This role is particularly suited to someone with experience gained in an education library.
