Overview

Connex Education is proud to be working in partnership with the Bath and Wells Multi Academy Trust (BWMAT) to recruit caring and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across Bath & North East Somerset. We are seeking individuals interested in flexible day-to-day supply work, short-term assignments and long-term placements, supporting children with additional learning, social, emotional and communication needs. As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their personal and academic goals. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's school experience while working within supportive and inclusive school communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Support pupils to access classroom learning and participate fully in school life
  • Assist with implementing individual support plans and EHCP targets where appropriate
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning
  • Adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of each pupil
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENDCos and other professionals to support pupil progress
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment

Qualifications

Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential. Required attributes include:

  • A patient, caring and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to reach their full potential
  • Ability to remain calm, flexible and proactive in a school environment
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Connex Education
  • Right to work in the UK
