About the Role

Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support pupils within mainstream primary schools across Somerset, including Taunton, Bridgwater, Yeovil, Frome, Street, Wells, Glastonbury, Burnham‑on‑Sea and the surrounding areas, from September 2026. We are looking for individuals interested in a mixture of flexible day‑to‑day supply work, short‑term placements, and long‑term opportunities, providing targeted classroom and pastoral support for pupils with additional needs within inclusive primary settings. Connex has partnered with a large Multi Academy Trust as well as local primary schools, offering more schools and more opportunities to work in!

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEN throughout the school day.
  • Support pupils in accessing learning activities and classroom routines.
  • Use supportive strategies to meet pupils' communication, interaction, emotional, and learning needs.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning.
  • Adapt support to reflect individual pupil needs and targets, including EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support pupil progress.
  • Provide personal care and emotional support where required, in line with school policies and training.
  • Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all learners.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in schools, care, youth work, nursery settings, or support‑based roles is advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to succeed.
  • Ability to respond flexibly to different pupils, classrooms, and school environments.
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through Connex Education.
  • Right to work in the UK.
