Salary: £93 - £100 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Connex Education is recruiting passionate and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistants to work within a range of welcoming primary schools across Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding areas. Opportunities are available on both a flexible supply basis and for short‑term and long‑term placements starting from September 2026. We work closely with a highly respected Multi‑Academy Trust in the Southwest, known for its inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and commitment to high‑quality early years education. Responsibilities

  • Supporting children within Nursery and Reception classes
  • Assisting with phonics, early literacy and numeracy activities
  • Encouraging learning through play and interactive activities
  • Supporting children’s social, emotional and behavioural development
  • Working with pupils on a one‑to‑one basis and in small groups
  • Helping to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment

Person Specification

  • Genuine passion for working with young children
  • Patient, caring and enthusiastic
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Experience working with EYFS‑aged children (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge of Phonics or Read Write Inc. (desirable)
  • Adaptable, reliable and proactive
  • Hold a DBS on the update service or are willing to obtain one
