About the Role
Prospero Teaching is looking for a qualified ESOL Tutor to deliver personalised, one-to-one English language support to young learners who are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children. This role is ideal for an experienced ESOL teacher who wants to make a meaningful difference by providing engaging, supportive sessions that help students improve their English, rebuild their confidence, and re‑engage with learning. These students have English as an additional language and will have missed significant schooling. You'll plan and deliver bespoke lessons that meet their language needs while fostering a positive, structured learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored ESOL sessions on a 1:1 basis within the student's home or out in the community (library or learning hub)
- Create engaging lesson plans that support language acquisition and confidence‑building
- Track student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
- Work closely with the Prospero Teaching team to ensure effective support is in place
Role Details
- Location: Barnet and surrounding areas
- Hours: Flexible - from 1 to 2 hours per session; part-time and full-time options available
- Pay rate: Up to £30 per hour
Requirements
- Recognised ESOL teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, TESOL, or equivalent)
- Minimum 6 months experience teaching ESOL in a UK setting
- Confident working independently and managing personalised learning plans
- A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
- Right to work in the UK
