Connex Education is recruiting a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning & Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a specialist educational setting in the Chippenham area. The role involves classroom‑based support and targeted interventions for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, trauma‑related needs or additional learning difficulties. Build strong relationships and promote a nurturing, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Support students inside and outside of the classroom to encourage engagement and positive learning behaviours.
- Build trusted relationships that promote confidence, emotional regulation and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external professionals.
- Support the implementation of behaviour strategies and individual support plans.
- Encourage a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and record student progress, behaviour and wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural or pastoral needs.
- Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of individual pupils and classroom settings.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education.
- Right to work in the UK.
