Connex Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistants to work in a specialist educational setting in North Bristol. We have a variety of opportunities available, including flexible day‑to‑day supply, short‑term placements and long‑term roles, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking either flexibility or consistency in their work.
The role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. You will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams and wider support staff to provide tailored support to pupils experiencing emotional regulation difficulties, behavioural challenges, anxiety or additional learning needs.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils on a one‑to‑one basis and in small group interventions
- Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop effective emotional regulation skills
- Assist in implementing individual learning and support plans
- Build strong, professional relationships that promote trust and engagement
- Help create a structured, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Work closely with teaching staff and wider support teams to meet individual pupil needs
- Support pupils during lessons, social times and transitions throughout the school day
- Record observations and contribute to monitoring pupil progress and wellbeing
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural or pastoral needs is desirable
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence managing challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
- A genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable young people
- Qualifications in education, psychology, childcare, youth work or a related field are beneficial but not essential
- Competitive daily pay rates (£100 - £130 per day)
