We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated 0.7 FTE Lecturer in Teacher Education to join our growing Teacher Education team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Further Education practitioner who is passionate about developing the next generation of teachers, trainers and assessors. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality teacher education programmes, supporting trainees to develop the professional knowledge, practical skills and reflective practice required for successful careers within the Further Education and Skills sector.
Working collaboratively with colleagues, curriculum teams, mentors and placement providers, you will support trainees throughout their learning journey, including the assessment of teaching practice, mentoring and professional development activities. You will contribute to the continued growth and development of our Teacher Education provision, ensuring learners receive an outstanding educational experience that supports achievement, progression and professional success.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Teacher Education programmes.
- Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that reflect current educational research, policy and practice within the Further Education and Skills sector.
- Model outstanding teaching, learning and assessment practices for trainee teachers.
- Observe, assess and support trainee teachers in placement and workplace settings, providing constructive feedback to support their professional development.
- Support trainees in developing effective teaching, assessment and classroom management strategies.
- Work collaboratively with mentors, curriculum teams and placement providers to support trainee progress and achievement.
- Support the continued growth and development of the Teacher Education provision.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- Level 5/6 Certificate in Education, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- Significant experience of teaching within the Further Education sector.
- Experience of delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to adult learners.
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, mentors and external partners.
- A passion for teacher education, innovation and professional development.
Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
- DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector)
- Certificate in Education
- PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education)
- ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education)
- DET (Diploma in Education and Training)
- DiT (Diploma in Teaching) - if for a vocational subject
If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998).
