- Teacher of English - the role
- Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 - KS5
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Following an established curriculum and schemes of work
- Assessing pupils' work and monitoring progress
- Preparing students for GCSE examinations
- Creating a positive and purposeful classroom environment
- Managing behaviour confidently and consistently
- Working closely with departmental colleagues and school leaders
- Contributing to the wider work of the English department
- Teacher of English - requirements
- UK Qualified Teacher Status
- A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge
- Recent experience teaching English in a UK secondary school, including teaching placements
- Knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and GCSE English curriculum
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- A reliable, adaptable and professional approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- The legal right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer visa sponsorship
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one
The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
An enhanced DBS check will be required as part of our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all.
