Our Security Systems Engineering (SSE) team plays a crucial role in our mission by ensuring the safety of our employees and visitors across all Tesla locations.

Across manufacturing, corporate, engineering, and sales; we are responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining cutting‑edge Access Control, Video Surveillance, and Intrusion systems. As Tesla continues to grow, so does our commitment to providing the best security and safety solutions to our expanding network of facilities. Working within the Security Systems Engineering (SSE) team, the Security Systems Engineer (Project Manager) will work with cross‑functional construction, IT, and operations business teams to lead security systems construction projects that assure the protection of Tesla's assets, critical infrastructure, and employees worldwide.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the entire lifecycle of technical security systems projects, including new construction, retrofit, day two MACs (moves, adds, changes), and decommissioning.
  • Coordinate pre‑requisites and schedules with project partners and external systems integrators to define and manage project scope, schedule, and cost of technical security projects.
  • Review, develop, and publish technical security designs including floor plans, device location drawings, wiring diagrams, bill of materials (BOM), programming sheets, network diagrams, elevation drawings, power load calculations, and as‑built drawings.
  • Test, program, and commission new technical security devices and inspect installations for quality assurance.
  • Perform site security risk assessments to support specific designs.
  • Maintain and ensure high‑quality project documentation and communication.
  • Manage maintenance of installed technical devices and systems with assistance from systems integrators and the other Tesla security teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce cost with physical security technology.

What You'll Bring

  • Project Management Certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent industry experience.
  • Several years of hands‑on technical experience managing physical security projects in a corporate, manufacturing, or retail facility environment.
  • Demonstrated success designing and managing multiple fast‑paced physical security systems projects (video surveillance, integrated access control, physical intrusion detection) with different stakeholders at various stages of completion.
  • Experience and/or vendor certifications from Gallagher, Genetec, Axis, Hanwha, and Commend are advantageous.
  • Domestic or International travel required as needed.
