Job Purpose Summary: To set and operate the Flame cutter and manual milling machines to achieve a specified level of output in terms of time, quality and cost standards. To safely and sustainably maintain a clean machine shop environment, through waste control and materials handling to the required time and standards by ensuring raw material is prepared and delivered for the next operation of machining and/or assembly.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • To set and operate the XYZ manual milling machines.
  • To set and operate the Flame Cutting Machine.
  • To operate the manual Sawing machines.
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping and safe working practices.
  • Operating to the Company's management systems and Health & Safety policy.
  • Fork lift truck driving (training provided).
  • Crane Operations (training provided).
  • Transportation of Goods and Raw materials to required areas within the business.
  • Ensuring that all work produced meets the specified level of quality.
  • Weekly consumable requirement list is produced and requested.
  • Spill kit management.
  • Ensure that accurate and timely booking procedures are maintained and that all the relevant production documentation/records are processed correctly.
  • General waste management and appropriate recycling.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task that is required by the Company.

Personal aptitude: The successful candidate must have good manual dexterity with an aptitude for mechanical work and basic mechanical processes. Attention to detail, ability to work precisely and accurately to instructions/drawings. The ability to use initiative and to work well as part of a team. Be flexible and adaptable to be able to meet changing requirements within the business.

Advantageous but not essential:

  • Experience in the use of Flame cutting processes.
  • Experience in the use of XYZ Milling machines.
  • Experience in the use of Saw / cutting machines.
  • Basic CAD understanding.

Expected hours: 40 per week
