As the Professional Support Lawyer within Tesco's in-house Property Group Legal team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing legal knowledge, driving compliance, and supporting strategic initiatives across the UK and offshore teams. Reporting to the Head of Legal - Property & Transformation, you'll work closely with Legal, Property, and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality legal support and training, helping shape the future of Tesco's real estate legal capability.

You will be responsible for:
- Conducting thorough legal research on real estate laws and regulations across all UK jurisdictions, keeping Legal and Property stakeholders informed of changes in UK real estate law and market best practices.
- Working with external law firms to maintain a comprehensive database of legal precedents, templates, playbooks, and other resources that reflect the business's strategic priorities and risk appetite.
- Collaborating with external law firms to share knowledge and best practices.
- Preparing and delivering internal training sessions for Legal colleagues and Property stakeholders on relevant real estate topics and developments.
- Reviewing and assessing externally sourced colleague training programmes to ensure best value and quality of content.
- Managing property-related policies and processes, including compliance training.
- Providing ongoing real estate legal support and guidance to in-house Property lawyers.
- Leading the development of our in-house UK real estate legal capability based in India, including refining, managing, and delivering a performance and matter management matrix to ensure the timely and effective delivery of offshore legal services.
- Designing and implementing a colleague Capability Development Pathway.
- Co-ordinating and contributing to the day-to-day transactional supervision and support of our UK real estate legal team located in India.
You will need:
- Qualified UK Real Estate Lawyer (5 years PQE+).
- Prior experience in a PSL role (in-house or private practice) preferred, but not essential.
- In-depth knowledge of UK real estate law and regulations.
- Strong understanding of UK contract law and property transactions.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and databases.
- Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
