This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team and play a leading role in defining, building and launching Store data products that have a real impact on Tesco’s business and colleagues. As a Lead Product Manager you will evolve and drive the product vision, strategy and delivery of Store Data Products that empower Tesco colleagues to deliver an exceptional shopping experience. You will define the product roadmap, prioritise features and ensure alignment with business objectives and user needs. Working closely with cross‑functional teams – engineering, analytics, stores and external partners – you will translate complex business challenges to improve store efficiency and colleague productivity. You will champion innovation, leverage store data and advanced analytics and ensure products deliver measurable impact on operational performance and colleague experience. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of being based at our London and Welwyn Garden City offices 3 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Store Data Products, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer experience objectives.
- Prioritise work and decisively resolve trade‑offs with peers and senior leaders to maximise business value.
- Translate complex business challenges into innovative, data‑driven solutions that improve store efficiency and colleague productivity.
- Document and explain new requirements to engineering teams using user stories with acceptance criteria and help break down complex work into smaller, deliverable chunks for faster delivery.
- Steer sprint and release planning sessions with engineering counterparts to plan iterations that deliver maximum business value with minimal effort.
- Prioritise, coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues independently.
Team Leadership and Talent Development
- Build and nurture a high‑performing team of Product Managers based on business needs and strategic priorities.
- Empower and develop your team to continually deliver value, fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation and continuous learning.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and targeted upskilling initiatives to develop expertise in product management, data analytics and emerging technologies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, analytics, store operations and external vendors to deliver high‑quality, scalable data products.
- Drive acceptance and adoption of ideas and improvements with product teams and engineering stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and direction to cross‑functional teams on short‑term tasks and mid‑/long‑term priorities.
- Identify and remove challenges faced by the team by working with the Head of Product and other stakeholders, proactively flagging risks or delays.
Technical and Data Expertise
- Leverage store data, advanced analytics and emerging technologies to shape product capabilities.
- Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to ensure robust data pipelines, governance and compliance.
- Explore opportunities to integrate AI and machine learning into Store Data Products for predictive insights and automation.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure data products adhere to governance, security and ethical standards.
- Promote data quality, discoverability and compliance across all product initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience setting vision and strategy for product areas, developing and maintaining product OKRs.
- Strong analytical skills – applying user research, market research and data to influence product outcomes.
- Deep understanding of diverse personas and customer perception to guide intuitive, customer‑friendly product design.
- Proficiency in UX/UI principles and ability to develop hypothesis statements, run experiments and iteratively improve products.
- Knowledge of AI/ML productivity technology systems and monitoring of associated health metrics.
- Experience with market research, leveraging insights to shape strategic direction aligned with business and technology goals.
- Expertise in Product Management lifecycle, delivery processes and Agile principles to facilitate incremental value delivery.
