We’re looking for a Lead Designer to play a critical role in the future of Clubcard – one of the UK’s most recognisable and widely used loyalty propositions. This role carries the end-to-end accountability you’d expect from a senior product-facing designer, with a strong focus on turning customer and business intent into high-quality, shipped experiences.

You’ll work as part of a broader design and research leadership group, collaborating closely with peers across design, research, product, and engineering to ensure strong alignment between insight, experience intent, and execution quality. Beyond the immediate team, you’ll collaborate with designers, researchers, and product partners across the business wherever Clubcard surfaces and creates differentiation for customers. This includes working across multiple journeys and touch-points to ensure experiences feel coherent, intentional, and high-quality end-to-end.

As a Lead Designer, you’ll set direction for experience quality and execution within a key Clubcard product area. You’ll partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers to influence priorities, scope, and outcomes, while maintaining a high bar for usability, accessibility, and craft. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll be deeply involved from concept through to live, accountable momentum, quality, and impact.

You will be responsible for:

  • Owning end-to-end design outcomes for a significant Clubcard product or journey, from discovery through to delivery and iteration.
  • Translating customer needs, research insight, and product strategy into clear, intuitive, and valuable experiences.
  • Shaping solutions, making design trade-offs, and driving decisions in partnership with Product and Engineering.
  • Leading experience design execution, ensuring what ships meets a high bar for usability, accessibility, and quality.
  • Ensuring strong alignment between insight, experience intent, and execution across discovery, design, and delivery.
  • Contributing to roadmap discussions with a clear point of view on scope, sequencing, and impact.
  • Using data, experimentation, and customer feedback to iterate and improve live experiences.
  • Setting and maintaining standards for experience quality, interaction patterns, and consistency.
  • Coaching and mentoring designers, supporting their growth in both craft and product thinking.
  • Playing an active role in evolving design practice across Loyalty and the wider Design community.

You will need:

  • Strong experience as a Lead or Senior Designer working end-to-end on complex digital products.
  • A product mindset: comfortable balancing customer value, business goals, and technical constraints.
  • Proven ability to partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers to shape and deliver outcomes.
  • Confidence making decisions, trade-offs, and recommendations in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong experience taking work from concept to live, and iterating based on real-world feedback.
  • High standards for experience quality, usability, and accessibility.
  • Ability to think strategically while staying hands-on in delivery.
  • Clear communication and influence skills within cross-functional teams.
  • Passion for building products that deliver real value at scale.

We’re all about the little helps. That’s why we make sure our Tesco colleague benefits package takes care of you – both in and out of work.

  • Annual bonus scheme of up to 20% of base salary.
  • Holiday starting at 25 days plus a personal day (plus Bank holidays).
  • Private medical insurance.
  • 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave (after 1 year’s service) at full pay, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity Pay or Statutory Adoption Pay; 6 weeks fully paid paternity leave.
  • Free 24/7 virtual GP service, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for you and your family, free access to a range of experts to support your mental wellbeing.
