An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trade Planning Senior Analyst to join the team here at Tesco on a 9-12 month Parental Leave Cover Contract. This role supports the rollout of a wide range of strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to shape our price and promotion strategies with timely insight and analysis utilising advanced analytical and modelling techniques. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with handling large data volumes with modern data processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop).
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the delivery of key strategic projects across the product and channel teams e.g. Price Index development, Promotional Optimisation, and delivery of the Trade Plan.
- Designing and performing timely and insightful analyses for strategic projects such as indexing & competitiveness, investment modelling, promotional optimisation, price architecture and range optimisation, space allocation, regression analysis and trade plan & promotion forecasting.
- Identifying and solving complex and deep issues within the data to provide accurate analysis.
- Supporting the end-to-end process from planning and forecasting through to performance review and insight.
- Converting analysis into Tableau dashboards.
- Proactively identifying processes where we can standardise, simplify, and automate.
- Working closely with other teams in the Product division, such as Product Proposition, Promotions, Trade Planning, and Space, Range & Display (SRD) to ensure our full commercial strategy is aligned and executed efficiently.
- Collaborating with teams across the wider business, including Category, Insight, and Channel specialists, to identify opportunities and develop the right solutions for our customers and our business.
- Performing ad hoc research and analyses to diagnose recent performance and operational issues.
You will need:
Operational Skills:- Substantial experience with handling large data volumes with modern data processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop).
- Strong Excel skills.
- Good data visualisation skills, especially through Tableau.
- Strong written and verbal communication, ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Python, VBA, and other data visualisation tool experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Economics, Applied Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or related field.
- Experience focusing on the practical & pragmatic use of data and a passion for connecting your work directly to the customer experience, making a real and tangible impact.
