Our Tesco Colleague rate of pay starts from ÂŁ12.45 an hour; this increases to ÂŁ13.66 for stores within the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It is our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but if you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would still love to hear from you.
The role involves working as part of a store team to serve customers and support store operations. You will be scheduled to work within defined availability windows and will receive three weeks’ notice of shifts.
Responsibilities and expectations sit at the heart of the role, with a focus on customer service, teamwork and operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Knowing your customers and serving them with passion and pride; giving great natural service.
- Being passionate and knowledgeable about the products and services within the store.
- Working across the store in service, picking and replenishment areas where required.
- Putting training into practice to ensure safe, effective and excellent service for customers.
- Making decisions that are right for customers and delivering store routines that meet customer needs.
- Participating in seasonal, community and charity events to create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Understanding the store’s performance and how the role contributes to service, sales, waste reduction and profitability.
- Handling products with care to maintain quality and ensure they reach customers in good condition.
- Being yourself, living Tesco values, making everyone feel welcome and following policies.
- Occasionally accepting deliveries into the store.
