Work closely with engineering teams to understand feasibility of design ideas and ensure review of design implementation at key stages of the development cycle.Deeply understand design to development handover and can support other teams in this area.Advocate for the Digital Design Framework among builders in different teams, guiding them in using the framework to construct outstanding work.Use Figma and Engineering analytics to help advise your work.Promote inclusive design practices and deliver accessible (AA)designs and components.Own all end-to-end UI process activities relevant to the design system workflow.Collaborate with different departments within product teams, working closely with build experts, researchers, content creators, engineers, product managers, data analysts, and business partners to explore, implement, test, and improve the creation process.Advocate for human-centred development within and beyond your team.Know how to validate your designs via A/B testing, un-moderated, usability testing, etc. and understand how product teams do this and its impact on the design system.Facilitate workshops, run appropriate conceptualisation and participatory design sessions.Assist other fields in understanding the importance of the build system in developing project outcomes for outstanding products.Continuously seek to improve design processes inside and outside of your team to gain efficiency, remove obstacles, and simplify workflows.Provide feedback to other designers to help strengthen your team and Tesco as a whole.Help your teammates build expertise, strong decision-making skills, and compassion for our users.Adopt opportunities to line manage other designers and help with their learning and development.Work with the Design Manager to cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture.Qualifications5+ years UI design experience.You are hard-working, motivated, independent.You are a system designer/thinker, you live by organisation and structure and efficiency.A strong and demonstrable ability to simplify the sophisticated.You bring a systematic, scalable design approach to your work, considering how best to deliver component libraries, layouts, templates, and icons that scale across numerous platforms and products.Demonstrable significant experience designing and working on design systems for large organisations.A passion for the latest design, AI, and engineering technologyYou excel at bridging the gap between design and engineering.A strong, well-curated portfolio demonstrating your expertise in design systems.The highest level of proficiency with the latest versions of Figma, specifically Figma focused on their library features.Expertise in designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA for component and product design.Ability to constructively critique design.A solid understanding of existing design systems such as Material design, and Fluent Design & an obsession with digital trends and designExperience collaborating closely with multiple fields, including product and engineering.Evident skill in coaching, mentoring, and establishing standards for ways of working.A strong understanding of the end-to-end iterative design double diamond process.A strong knowledge of the latest design and prototyping tools and technologies.About usOur vision at Tesco is to become every customer\’s favourite way to shop, whether they are at home or out on the move.
