About the role
As a Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Taunton, Chard, Ilminster and surrounding areas, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly. Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality. This is a hands‑on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. - Ensure all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
- Follow the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
- General day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
- Use mobile devices – phone and tablet – to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
- Represent the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values, maintaining a positive attitude and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
- Attend local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
- Support a diverse and inclusive culture.
Qualifications & Operational Skills
As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.

- Full driving licence

- Completed all technical training upskilling modules relevant to abilities.
