This is an exciting opportunity for an Operational Underwriting Team Leader to join our Underwriting team in Newcastle. You will lead, motivate and support a team of Operational Underwriters through the underwriting referral management agreed framework and authority.
The Role
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of operational underwriters to meet performance and quality objectives.
- Manage workload allocation and resource planning to ensure SLA delivery.
- Monitor operational underwriting processes to maintain accuracy, efficiency, and compliance standards ensuring documentation remains relevant and up to date.
- Drive the adoption of best practices and implement process improvements to enhance productivity.
- Track KPIs, prepare performance reports, and present insights to management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve the customer experience.
- Recognise how customer-facing systems influence underwriting and integrate this understanding into daily decision-making.
We need you to have
- Proven experience managing, developing and motivating people, including coaching, performance management, and supporting development.
- Strong communication skills, able to tailor your approach to different audiences.
- Good attention to detail – able to maintain high accuracy and efficiency in operational processes.
- Confidence to work without supervision and provide technical guidance.
- Ability to create relevant and effective reports.
- Good judgement and decision-making capability.
