Reporting into the Head of Financial Controls, you will be responsible for crafting and embedding our Key Financial Controls Framework across Finance. You\\\’ll be closely involved in the daily functioning of our finance processes, working with different collaborators to offer expert mentorship on financial controls composition.
Strengthening Tesco\\\’s control environment will be a key objective, particularly in light of recent corporate governance reform, and this position will sit within the team tasked with making these things happen, providing significant opportunity to raise your profile across the Group.
In the team you\\\’ll be surrounded by a group of other expert risk and control professionals, who are available for support and discussion, but you\\\’re also given the independence and autonomy to go about your role in the way that best suits you.

Responsibilities
- Analysing the integrity of our core financial checks by conducting process walkthroughs and collaborating with control owners and Global Process Owners.
- Crafting our annual control monitoring programme and ongoing review and update to our internal control methodology.
- Performing quality assurance over control testing performed by junior resources.
- Preparing reporting, including to Senior Management and the Audit Committee, on the results of our control testing.
- General ad hoc second line of defence activities – providing advice to the first line on controls, preparing and delivering training on controls, investigating control failures.
- Supporting our controls culture, running training, information sessions and building control communities.
Requirements
- Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience in internal controls, preferably financial controls, covering design, implementation, improvement or testing.
- Solid understanding of key financial process cycles (e.g. Record to Report, Procure to Pay).
