Pay Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from ÂŁ13.35 an hour; this increases to ÂŁ14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
Hours It is Tesco policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, but opportunities for fewer hours (minimum 12) are also available.
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work—the availability windows. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times, and you’ll have 3 weeks’ notice of exactly when your shifts will be. This role is about more than driving: it’s about helping others and delivering great service with a smile. It’s hands-on, physical and full of variety. You’ll feel like your own boss for much of the day, delivering to customers, with a team of Managers and colleagues back at base to support you when needed. Responsibilities
You will be responsible for delivering your part of our customer shopping trip by:
- Keeping the van and trays clean, tidy and organised
- Leaving the back yard clean and picking up litter as seen
- Washing trays as part of the tray wash process
- Loading the van, and checking the van for roadworthiness
- Discussing any changes to orders with customers, including substitutions, and offering refunds where appropriate
- Taking care of products and deliveries as if they were your own
- Explaining substitutions to customers and confirming they will not incur extra charges
- Delivering within the customer’s time slot
- Calling the customer before arriving if early
- Calling the store/centre if running 30 minutes or more late
What you will need
- Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and help deliver excellent customer service
- Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand the customer
- Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store
- Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations and balance home and work life
- Share ideas with Managers and colleagues on how to improve the store for customers
- A valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points
